The veterinarians at Melton Veterinary Hospital are experienced in the care and treatment of many different animals, including exotic pet, pocket pets, and birds!
While most veterinary clinics do not provide services for exotic pets, Melton Veterinary Hospital is equipped to examine both reptiles and amphibians and welcomes them with open arms. We offer wellness exams, behavioral and dietary consultations, diagnostic testing, and tips on proper husbandry and handling. We recommend you bring your pet in every 6-12 months for preventative care and examination.
Pocket pets refer to the smaller household pets, such as guinea pigs, hamsters, mice, rats, gerbils, and hedgehogs. Every pocket pet is unique with different care and treatment requirements. Our veterinarians know the ins and outs of your furry friend’s health. We can give you helpful tips for safely and comfortably handling your pet, as well as consult you about a proper diet, toys and cage accessories, and general maintenance.
For our flying friends, we offer many different veterinary services, including wellness exams, parasite, bacteria or yeast examinations, blood tests, behavioral and dietary consultations, and grooming & wing trimming. We recommend that you bring your bird in for a wellness exam every 6-12 months; birds are proud creatures and often mask illnesses until it is far too late.
For new bird owners, we recommend having a full examination done before taking your new pet home. Birds who have had recent contact with other birds in a pet store are far more likely to be infected with contagious diseases, parasites or bacteria.
